How do I calculate file download time from bandwidth?
Download time = File Size / Bandwidth. A 1 GB file on a 100 Mbps connection: 1,000 MB × 8 bits / 100 Mbps = 80 seconds. The calculator accounts for the difference between megabits (Mb) and megabytes (MB).
What is the difference between Mbps and MBps?
Mbps = megabits per second (network speed). MBps = megabytes per second (file transfer). 1 MBps = 8 Mbps. A 100 Mbps connection transfers at 12.5 MBps maximum. The calculator converts between both units.
How much bandwidth do I need for video streaming?

Why is my actual download speed lower than my plan?
ISP speeds are "up to" maximums. Overhead from protocols (TCP/IP headers) reduces usable bandwidth by 5-10%. Wi-Fi adds more overhead. Network congestion, distance from server, and server limits also affect real-world speeds.
How do I calculate bandwidth for a website?
Monthly bandwidth = Page Size × Page Views × (1 + Redundancy Factor). A 2MB page with 100,000 monthly views: 2 × 100,000 × 1.5 = 300 GB/month. The calculator estimates hosting bandwidth requirements.
