Cost Calculator

Calculate total costs

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Cost Calculator work?

Enter individual cost items with quantities and unit prices. The calculator totals all items, applies any tax rate or discount, and shows the final cost breakdown including subtotal, tax amount, discount amount, and grand total.

Can I include tax and discounts in the calculation?

Yes. Set a tax percentage (e.g., 20% VAT) and/or a discount percentage or fixed amount. The calculator applies discounts before tax by default, following standard accounting practice.

How do I calculate cost per unit?

Cost per unit = Total Cost / Number of Units. For example, if producing 500 items costs $2,500 in materials plus $1,000 in labor, the cost per unit is $3,500 / 500 = $7.00 per unit.

What is the difference between fixed and variable costs?

Fixed costs remain constant regardless of output (rent, salaries, insurance). Variable costs change with production volume (materials, shipping, commissions). Total cost = Fixed costs + (Variable cost per unit × Quantity).

Can I save or export my cost calculations?

The results can be copied to clipboard in a formatted table. For spreadsheet use, copy the breakdown and paste into Excel or Google Sheets for further analysis and record keeping.
