Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert annual salary to hourly rate?
Hourly rate = Annual Salary / (Weekly Hours × 52). For $60,000 at 40 hours/week: $60,000 / 2,080 = $28.85/hour. The calculator also accounts for paid holidays and vacation days.
How is take-home pay calculated from gross salary?
Take-home = Gross Salary - Income Tax - Social Security - Medicare - State Tax - Other Deductions. The calculator applies current tax brackets and standard deductions to estimate your net pay accurately.
What is the difference between gross and net salary?
Gross salary is your total pay before any deductions. Net salary (take-home pay) is what you actually receive after taxes, insurance, retirement contributions, and other deductions. Net is typically 65-80% of gross.
How do I calculate salary for different pay periods?
Annual ÷ 12 = monthly. Annual ÷ 26 = biweekly. Annual ÷ 52 = weekly. For $60,000: monthly = $5,000, biweekly = $2,307.69, weekly = $1,153.85. Note: biweekly results in 2 extra paychecks per year vs semi-monthly.
How much should I negotiate above the initial offer?
Research shows most employers expect negotiation and build in 10-20% buffer. Counter 10-15% above the offer for most roles. Use the calculator to compare offers by converting different pay structures to equivalent annual amounts.
